SORSOGON CITY — Long-awaited for Sorsogon gubernatorial candidate Edwin Hamor to finally lay down his card, he finally decided Friday to make public his support for Leni Robredo.
Hamor’s decision has sent waves in Sorsogon social media circles which are outspoken Leni supporters.
Governor aspirant Hamor, also Casiguran Mayor, officially expressed support for Robredo in an interview over a local radio station (Wow Smile Radio) on Friday, March 25, 2022.
According to Hamor, “Pinakinggan ko lahat ng plataporma, ang timbang, mga debate at mga issue. Kailangan dito broad. Maganda naman ang pagkakaisa, pero tinimbang natin at ang pinakadahilan ko, sentimiento ng mga Sorsoganon.”
(“I listened to all the platforms, weighed the debates and the issues that are broad. The unity is good, but we weighed and my main reason, the sentiment of the Sorsoganons.”)
“Leni yes, Kiko no?”
Hamor is running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) of which Senate President Tito Sotto runs the party as vice president. Sotto and Hamor are best friends.
With his statement, Hamor will support Robredo, but hinted of junking Kiko Pangilinan for Sotto in the vice-presidency.
The Sorsogon public has long awaited Hamor’s announcement regarding his position on who the presidential candidate he will support, with most of his mayoral candidate allies having already expressed support for VP Leni.
Even his wife, Sorsogon city Mayor Ester Hamor has pledged her support for VP Leni.
Meanwhile, Hamor’s rival for governor Sally Lee has already expressed support for Robredo.
“Escudero still tight – lipped; to be or not to be”
The camp of Senatorial aspirant and Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero is still tight – lipped on the presidential candidate they will support.
It will be recalled that at a gathering several days ago, Esucdero said that if Marcos’ rating does not change in April, it is possible that he will be the president.

Escudero’s family is close to the Marcoses, with Chiz’s father being the Minister of Agriculture under then president Ferdinand E. Marcos.
Bongbong is godfather to Chiz’s marriage with his first wife.
On the other hand, Leni supporters in Sorsogon welcomed Edwin Hamor’s declaration of support for Robredo.

According to Casiguran People’s Council, it is a great honor for a Casiguranon to support a fellow Bicolano.
The group said Robredo is the most qualified candidate among the other presidential candidates.
According to a Bicol Express News source, the majority of Sorsoganons support Robredo and have high ratings in local surveys in the province.
This may also have prompted Hamor to support Robredo, and re-aligned himself to the public’s clamor for local candidates to position themselves in support of the Bicolano presidential candidate.
