As part of the annual celebration of the National Disaster Resilience month the Province of Sorsogon inked on July 11, 2024 a Memorandum of Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding as a collaborative and coordinating effort’s with government agencies, private stakeholders to maximize resource utilization, inter-operability, roles and responsibility with continuous review on sets of frameworks to improve existing parameters how to respond and minimize the impact of man made or natural disaster.
In signing the agreement and understanding Governor Edwin Hamor said that the MOA and MOU was the intention of the provincial board per SP Resolution No 16-24 in consonance with RA 10121 the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.
The signed MOA and MOU was the result of collective efforts for disaster response effectiveness for critical scenarios wherein assets are deployed in ravaged communities to provide maximum search and rescue operations.
Under the banner of the 7K agenda Sorsogon is pushing for a Casualty Free and Resilient Province as it puts premium on personnel training, equipment’s and pre-positioned assets of the provincial disaster risk reduction management team and complimentary workforce as an ease of access response aim to minimize the impact to areas affected.
