Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal assures the public not to worry over the expected docking on Tuesday of the barge with crew members sick of Covid 19.

Authorities in Monday said the ill-fated barge is on its way to Legazpi City, and might dock in an undisclosed private port.

The barge, MTUG Clyde and Barge Claudia, a 258 GT, with 20 crew members left Indonesia with cargo for the Bicol mainland.

It made a stopover at Butuan City port, CARAGA, then sailed for Legazpi City, but at sea, authorities in Mindanao messaged them that 12 of the crew are Covid 19 positive.

Since then, health authorities tracked them, while the barge continued its course for the Bicol mainland.

“The task force, Health and protocol enforcers are ready for the barge once it docks in Legazpi, and all protocols shall be strictly implemented,” Mayor Rosal said.

Nathaniel Uy, of NFH Construction Supplies, San Vicente, Milaor, Camarines Sur, owner of the barge assured his full cooperation in the implementation of health protocols.

According to Mayor Rosal, Dr. Eric Raburar of Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital or BRTTH will lead the health responding team.
