LGU Gubat started depopulation of backyard pigpens

GUBAT, Sorsogon – When the African Swine Fever was detected in Barangay Cogon of this town g raisers were informed that a depopulation within the 500 hundred meter radius will be done to prevent the spread of the al DNA of the swine fever.

According to the agriculture office of the town that they already depopulated Barangay Cogon and San Ignacio areas infected by the ASF of live pigs. The manner however was not disclosed but under the Executive Order No. 2021-013 of Mayor Sharon Rose Escoto live pigs within the radius will be stamped out and the manner of disposal will be on-site and if the area is not suited it will be transported in a marked vehicle with all the cautions preventing spillage that may further spread of ASF. Those affected will be compensated accordingly.

The agriculture office is cautioning the public not to panic for no further traces of ASF is detected and to avoid selling their pigs at the price lower than normal. It also added that they should not be misled by fake news that that Asf affected other barangays.

It is reminding hog raisers of the town to avoid feeding their livestock with left-over foods that may be contaminated. It is urging for cleaning of the areas in and out of the pigpen including disinfect

It cautions the populace to avoid transacting with traders from outside of the province for unknowingly they are the carrier of the viral DNA of ASF.
