Legazpi City Government in Albay Province will give cash aid to some 18,500 registered senior citizens and 2,500 tricycle drivers as part of COVID-19 assistance for vulnerable sectors.

Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal said at least 3, 251 members of senior citizen groups listed at the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) initially received P1,500 each as financial assistance to cushion the impact.

“The first batch of elderly recipients came from the villages of Stanza, Maslog, Mariawa, Imalnod, Banquerohan, Bariis, San Francisco, Buenavista, Cagbacong, Taysan, Homapon and Bagacay,” Rosal said.

The driver- beneficiaries will receive P1000 each.

The payout materialized after the City Council approved Resolution No. 15-0290-2021 allocating cash assistance to OSCA-members and tricycle drivers to lessen the burden.

Rosal said the P4,876,500 million already disbursed was merely a fraction of the total budget allocation of P30.25-million for the 18,500 OSCA-registered seniors and 2,500 tricycle drivers from 70 barangays of Legazpi City. (with reports from PIA)
