Former Leni volunteers and friends in Sorsogon held relief operation in Barangay Buraburan, Juban, one of the areas hit hard by the severe ashfall after Bulusan Volcano erupted Sunday.
Nearly 100 families were given rice, canned goods, noodles, water, face masks and toiletries by the group who delivered immediate assistance to barangay residents.
The people were very happy to receive the help.
“Thank you very much. You are the only one who brought help here in our ward. The assistance is usually brought to the evacuation center,” an old woman cried gratefully.
Earlier, the Office of the Vice President sent help in Barangay Tughan where the evacuated residents of Barangay Puting Sapa sought safety.
Led by Edgar Balasta, administrator of CCDI Sorsogon and former SLB Campaign Manager with Dr. Elna Fajardo, Dr. Toni Dugan, Metrobank Manager Cel Paras, Estrelle Ronan, and Julie Tabuena with other volunteers personally extended assistance to ashfall victims in the area.
Also, included are SLB Juban coordinators Irish Margaret Gojol and Jazz Diasanta.
Mayor Antonio Alindogan was very grateful for the group’s initiative.
“I hope we will continue to help. The election is over, we are needed in this situation,” the Mayor said.
“There should be no politics,” Balasta corrected.
