Barcelona, Sorsogon – A female green sea turtle (Chelonia Mydas) was released to the ocean its natural habitat after it was discovered entangled in a fishnet.
With the discovery, MENRO Lheyben Figueroa of Barcelona informed LGU Sorsogon Penro who responded outright and freed the sea turtle at the shores in Barangay Poblacion of the town.
When measured is 43 centimeters in length and 42 centimeters wide weighing approximately four kilograms. The endangered Green Sea turtle was found to be in good condition.
In the listing of DENR threatened Philippine Fauna and their Categories the release green sea turtle belongs to the group. It is locally known as “Talisayon.”
